Witness account
ODNI released the document titled 2022 Annual Report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in January 2023. It counted 510 catalogued reports as of August 30, 2022: the previous 144 plus 247 newer reports and 119 reports concerning earlier incidents that had subsequently surfaced. The title year and publication date must both be preserved, and the total should not be described as 510 sightings occurring during 2022.
Public record
Initial characterization of the 366 added reports listed 26 UAS or UAS-like entities, 163 balloon or balloon-like entities and six cases of clutter, leaving 171 uncharacterized reports. The report explicitly warned that initial characterization was not the same as positive resolution.
