DoD officially releases FLIR, GIMBAL and GOFAST

The Department of Defense officially released three unclassified Navy videos already familiar to the public. Its statement dated one recording to November 2004 and two to January 2015, and explained that the release was intended to clarify whether the circulated material was real and whether there was additional content. This was an official publication milestone, not the dates of the recorded events.

The statement and released files establish government provenance. DoD said the depicted aerial phenomena remained characterized as unidentified at that time. The wording does not certify the physical interpretation attached to the clips by commentators, such as extreme acceleration, hypersonic flight or confirmed alien vehicles.
