GOFAST recording and later motion-parallax explanation

Off the US East Coast

Witness account

The GOFAST infrared clip shows a small target apparently rushing above the ocean as a Navy aircraft tracks it. It was recorded in January 2015 and publicly released in March 2018, after the better-known December 2017 publication of FLIR and GIMBAL. Grouping all three under a single 2017 release date obscures that history. The promotional title describes the video's visual impression, not a measured extreme ground speed.

Public record

AARO's resolution card dated February 6, 2025 analyzed the public 34-second video because the original file and metadata were no longer available. Using its displayed measurements and wind modelling, the assessment attributed the impression of speed to motion parallax and found no anomalous performance.
