Channel Islands pilot observations
Channel Islands airspace

Witness account
Aurigny pilot Ray Bowyer reported conspicuous yellow, elongated forms during a flight near the Channel Islands. Another pilot and passengers provided related observations. Contemporary aviation communications and later investigation made the episode more substantial than a single unsupported recollection, but popular descriptions of a mile-wide, radar-confirmed spacecraft exceeded what the investigators considered established.
Public record
A detailed investigation by David Clarke, Martin Shough and colleagues examined witness accounts, viewing geometry, radar and meteorological information. The resulting paper explicitly rejected several exaggerated press claims. The available angular observations did not yield a secure distance and physical size, and apparent radar associations were not equivalent to tracking the luminous forms as solid vehicles.
