O’Hare disc and cloud-hole report
Gate C17 area, Chicago O’Hare International Airport

Witness account
United Airlines personnel and other observers reported a grey, disc-like object below the cloud ceiling near gate C17 on the afternoon of November 7. Some said it departed upward and left a hole in the cloud layer. The case became a major news story with the Chicago Tribune's January 1, 2007 article, but that was not the first public account: NARCAP's investigation records specialist publicity in November.
Public record
NARCAP Technical Report 10 assembled witness interviews, weather analysis, FAA facility material and telephone audio. An FAA log records a United ramp inquiry about an object; the tower reported not seeing it. No authenticated close photograph or confirmed radar track established the object's shape, size, altitude or claimed departure speed.
