The Sturrock panel and its carefully qualified findings
Pocantico Conference Center, Tarrytown, New York
Witness account
An international panel of physical scientists reviewed selected UFO evidence at a workshop organized by Peter Sturrock at Pocantico from 29 September to 4 October 1997. Investigators presented cases involving photographs, radar, traces and reported physiological or vehicle effects. The proceedings were published in 1998, creating the often-used label Sturrock report.
Public record
The DLR repository records the article and conference dates, while Stanford’s contemporary release summarizes the findings. The panel considered some observations worthy of further scientific study but was not persuaded that the evidence demonstrated extraterrestrial intelligence or a violation of known physical laws. It also criticized the rigor and limits of much existing case material.
