Witness account

Residents of the Hudson Valley and adjoining areas reported large, slow-moving arrangements of lights, often interpreted as a single boomerang-shaped or triangular object. The night of 24 March 1983 became one of the best-known concentrations of reports within a wave extending across several years. Investigators later assembled the material in Night Siege.

Public record

Local reporting confirms substantial public attention and eyewitness testimony. It also records pilots’ descriptions of formation flights from the Stormville area, providing a concrete ordinary source for at least some sightings. A multi-year total should not be represented as thousands of independent observations of one object on one night.
