Witness account

U.S. Air Force personnel reported unusual lights near RAF Woodbridge during the early hours of 26 December. Charles Halt led a later visit in the early hours of 28 December and recorded observations of lights and radiation-meter readings. His memorandum to the British Ministry of Defence, dated 13 January 1981, instead gave 27 and 29 December, creating a persistent one-day error in later timelines.

Public record

The case includes a real official memorandum, Halt’s audio recording and police attendance. Suffolk police reported the lighthouse as the light they could see and considered ground impressions potentially animal-made. These sources document an unusual experience and the investigation, while the interpretation of the lights, impressions and meter readings remains contested.
