Witness account
Fontaine's companions said lights enveloped their car and he disappeared. He returned roughly a week later, initially reporting little memory. The affair developed into a contact narrative promoted through a 1980 book and Prévost's messages from an alleged extraterrestrial intelligence.
Public record
Police and GEPAN investigated; the latter issued Technical Note 6 in March 1981. In June 1983 Prévost said he had staged the incident and hidden Fontaine in an apartment. Sources differ on the exact return date.
