Witness account

Residents described luminous objects and sometimes attributed burns, puncture-like marks or weakness to directed light. Brazilian Air Force teams investigated, recorded testimony and observed aerial lights during Operação Prato. Local fear and reported health effects are part of the historical episode, but claims of blood extraction or a single coherent hostile campaign go beyond what can be established from the observations alone.

Public record

Brazil’s National Archives preserves operational material. One retrieved file, ARX 0322, has mixed provenance: a 1991 Air Force memorandum concerning a leaked report precedes a magazine reproduction of a 1977 field report. The covering memorandum supports the report’s military origin, while its later reproduction must still be distinguished from an untouched original mission notebook.
