Witness account

A conspicuous luminous display was seen across the Canary Islands and from the sea. Physician Francisco Padrón gave a much more specific account of a transparent nearby sphere containing large red-clad figures. The regional sky phenomenon and this alleged close encounter should be described separately; they have different observational support and do not become interchangeable because they share a date.

Public record

Spain’s defense library holds official file 760622, a substantial investigation declassified in 1994. Later researchers Ricardo Campo and Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos compared the display with U.S. submarine-launched Poseidon missile tests, identifying a strong launch-based explanation. Campo also traced discrepancies and later elaboration in the occupants account through contemporary press and official statements.
