Travis Walton: five-day disappearance and disputed explanation

Six coworkers said they saw a light or beam strike Walton near an unusual object before they fled. He reappeared five days later and described unfamiliar beings and humanlike figures.

The disappearance prompted police searches. Early post-return accounts already contained substantial recollections before further regression, while polygraph examinations and competing investigations produced a prolonged dispute.
