Witness account

Da Silva said that small, hairy beings seized him while he was fishing, transported him, and subjected him to an extended encounter involving communication and religious imagery. His reported absence is usually dated 4–9 May. The locality was in Minas Gerais near Belo Horizonte; it is easily confused with the separate city of Bebedouro in São Paulo state.

Public record

Brazilian investigators Húlvio Brant Aleixo and Alberto Francisco do Carmo developed the account. A bibliographic index identifies the main early reports, including Aleixo’s 1973 Flying Saucer Review article and later book treatment. The reporting history supports a story circulating relatively near its assigned event date, but the earliest newspaper clipping and police records were not inspected in full here.
