Shag Harbour: reported water impact and an official search
Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia

Witness account
Residents reported a group of lights descending toward the water near Shag Harbour. Authorities initially treated the possibility of an aircraft accident seriously and organized a search. The event subsequently became one of Canada’s most famous alleged UFO crashes, with later narratives extending the story to underwater movements and a separate location at Shelburne.
Public record
Library and Archives Canada identifies original records in its UFO holdings, including specific National Research Council and defense-related files. The contemporary record supports reports, a search and the failure to identify or recover an ordinary crashed aircraft. That is different from recovering a manufactured object or observing one underwater. Later additions need their own dated witnesses and documents.
