Lady, widely called Snippy: the Colorado horse-death story
San Luis Valley, near Alamosa, Colorado

Witness account
A horse found dead with tissue missing from its head and neck became widely known as Snippy, although its name was Lady. Reports connected the carcass, supposed radiation and nearby unusual lights to UFO activity. The association helped establish animal mutilation as a recurrent part of UFO lore before the larger 1970s cattle-death wave.
Public record
Condon Case 32 examined the incident as an anonymized fall-1967 horse death. Investigators found no abnormal radiation. They considered injury or infection followed by scavenging a plausible sequence, and the carcass’s age constrained interpretation. Their discussion distinguishes observations of missing tissue from assertions that only advanced surgery or unknown weapons could produce it.
