Cussac: two children report figures beside a bright object

Witness account

While tending cattle, two siblings described several small figures near a brilliant spherical object. Their account placed the figures entering or rising toward it before its departure. The witnesses were children, and estimates of distance, size and the exact movements were derived from their recollections, rather than calibrated instruments or photographs.

Public record

A contemporary newspaper report and the Mesnard–Pavy GEPA investigation provide an early documentary sequence. A much later GEPAN reinvestigation is frequently cited in the same breath as the 1967 report, although it introduced a substantial time gap. Helicopter interpretations and disagreement about the scene geometry form part of the later debate.
