Tully saucer nest: George Pedley and a floating circle of reeds
Horseshoe Lagoon, Euramo, near Tully, Queensland

Witness account
Pedley reported a hissing sound and an object departing from a lagoon beside the Pennisi sugar-cane property. A circular mat of flattened reeds was found floating on the water. The site is Euramo near Tully, and the vegetation was lagoon reeds: describing it simply as a patterned field of standing grain obscures what investigators actually encountered.
Public record
Contemporary photographs, a police sighting form and newspaper coverage survive. The Pennisi family and visitors saw the reed formation, but their observations of it are not independent observations of the departing object. Heavy visitor traffic rapidly altered the site. Later recollections describe additional formations, which require their own dates rather than being folded into Pedley’s single observation.
