Rex Heflin photographs: four images with different documentary histories

Witness account

County highway employee Rex Heflin said he photographed a disc-shaped object from his work vehicle and later photographed a smoke ring. The three object images and the fourth smoke-ring image are often presented as one seamless photographic sequence, although the Condon inquiry reconstructed distinct disclosure and handling histories.

Public record

Condon Case 52 examined copies, interviews, terrain and illumination. Shadow analysis shifted the estimated time from the originally stated 11:30 a.m. to approximately 12:37 p.m. A supervisor corroborated trouble contacting Heflin by radio but did not see the object. The report places the radio difficulty before the sighting, an important correction to claims of simultaneous UFO-induced interference.
