Ubatuba magnesium fragments enter UFO research
Ubatuba, São Paulo, according to the anonymous account
Witness account
A newspaper columnist received an anonymous letter describing an object exploding near Ubatuba, accompanied by metallic fragments said to come from it. The pieces were passed to investigators and later subjected to chemical analysis. The often-given 14 September date securely identifies the column’s publication, not the time of a witnessed explosion.
Public record
Magnesium specimens were physically tested, and researchers debated purity, impurities and analytical methods. The missing original witness identity and incomplete chain of custody prevent laboratory composition from establishing where or how the metal originated.
