The Lakenheath–Bentwaters radar case
Bentwaters and Lakenheath, eastern England

Witness account
Radar operators at bases in eastern England reported unusual targets, with accompanying visual reports and an attempted RAF interception. Some accounts described an object maneuvering behind an interceptor. The episode became a classic argument for taking radar-and-visual cases seriously, partly because it survived a critical review as unresolved.
Public record
The Condon study compared an Air Force report with a detailed 1968 letter from a radar supervisor. The latter was a recollection, not a surviving verbatim operations log. Its correspondence with parts of the earlier report is relevant, while differences in timing and sequence still matter.
