14–17 January 1953; memorandum 16 February / T063
The Robertson Panel recommends reducing the UFO reporting burden
Washington, D.C.
Witness account
A CIA-sponsored panel reviewed selected cases and films, including the Tremonton footage. It judged that the evidence presented did not establish a direct physical threat, but considered public alarm, clogged reporting channels and vulnerability to hostile exploitation potential security problems.
Public record
The report and Durant memorandum survive. The panel’s roster and report give 14–17 January; the later memorandum’s title refers to meetings on 14–18 January. Preserve that documentary difference instead of pretending the dates are identical.
