The Barra da Tijuca flying-disc photographs
Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro
Witness account
Photographer Ed Keffel and reporter João Martins of O Cruzeiro said that a disc appeared while they were working near Barra da Tijuca. A sequence of five photographs became one of Brazil’s best-known early UFO images. Publicity and claims of favorable military analysis gave the sequence importance beyond the two witnesses’ account.
Public record
The published photographic sequence can be examined, but independent distance and size measurements are absent. Statements that the Brazilian Air Force conclusively authenticated a distant craft require the actual investigative report, not later assurances that such a report existed.
