LIFE asks whether the objects are visitors from space
United States; national circulation
Witness account
LIFE published Have We Visitors From Space?, a prominent treatment of selected reports that argued the extraterrestrial possibility deserved attention. The article presented military and scientific testimony to a broad audience during a period of renewed Air Force investigation. Its appearance preceded the summer’s Washington sightings rather than responding to them.
Public record
The issue’s text and illustrations are a direct record of what readers were told. They are valuable for tracing which cases and arguments were already circulating in early 1952.
