Witness account

New Zealand's 1909 airship wave included night lights and a daytime Kelso report in which schoolchildren and an adult described a boat-like or cigar-like form. Newspapers published interviews and drawings, while other residents reported bright lights and occasional sounds. The core school event is dated to Friday, 23 July; some reprints incorrectly shifted it to Saturday.

Public record

Ufocus NZ reproduces an extensive sequence of contemporary Otago Daily Times and other newspaper material, including named children and their differing descriptions. Papers Past preserves the relevant newspaper corpus. The original accounts include uncertainty, competing explanations, and evolving claims about structure and occupants; they do not form a single consistent technical description.
